Season’s Greetings and Office Closure over the Christmas period

NAAFLS offices in Darwin and Katherine will close on Friday 22 December 2023 in the afternoon and reopen at 8:15 am on Tuesday 2 January 2024. Our Nhulunbuy Office will be closed from Monday 11 December 2023 and reopen at 8:15am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Over the Christmas period, people in urgent need of protection should contact the Northern Territory Police on 131 444 or 000 (in an emergency).

If Police are unable to assist, people in need may attend the Civil Registry at the Darwin Local Court to complete a Domestic Violence Order application and seek an urgent listing.

The Civil Registry will be open on business days during the Christmas period and can be contacted on 8999 6370. The Civil Registry office is located at Nichols Place at the corner of Cavenagh and Bennett Streets, Darwin.

Between Monday 18 December 2023 and Friday 5 January 2024, the specialist list for Domestic Violence at the Darwin Local Court will be suspended. There will be a single Judge presiding for urgent listings.

Safe accommodation options for women with children escaping domestic violence include Dawn House which can be contacted on 8945 1388 and Darwin Aboriginal and Islander Women’s Shelter which can be contacted on 8945 2284.

Safe accommodation for women without children can be found at Catherine Booth House which can be contacted on 8981 5928.
