All solicitors are provided with cultural education, cultural awareness and cultural safety training to ensure that the delivery of our legal advice is culturally appropriate in all circumstances. Our solicitors always travel with a member of our support team and use the services of aboriginal interpreters when required. Solicitors are required to undertake ongoing Continuing Professional Development as required by the NT Law Society to retain their respective practising certificates.
Client Support Officers
Our Client Support Officers comprise mainly Indigenous females who are all dedicated to providing an efficient, friendly and culturally appropriate service to our indigenous clients. Support staff are trained in the provision of social services and provide support to our solicitors and counsellors as well as ongoing support to our Indigenous clients. Support staff are encouraged to attend training courses which are relevant to the delivery of our services.
Community Legal Educators
Our dedicated team of legal and support staff actively participate in the presentation of relevant Community Legal Education to clients, stakeholders and community groups to ensure all community members are aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to matters associated with family violence.
Our volunteers assist our legal team with case management and file management. Our volunteers are provided with cultural education and visit remote communities to gain an appreciation of our service delivery to our Indigenous clients.
