Last week NAAFLS Board of Directors met for the last time in 2022. We have a small and engaged board made up of Ada Parry, Peter Thomsen, Therese Puruntatameri and Sue Wainwright.
All our directors are determined to improve services for domestic and family violence victims, and our board meetings are an important opportunity to talk about what we can be doing better.
We would like to thank our board for their active involvement and look forward to another year of working together in 2023.

Support for our peak body
An item at the meeting was how NAAFLS can better support our peak body the National Family Violence Prevention Legal Services. National FVPLS is the peak body for 15 Family Violence Prevention Legal Services (FVPLS) that deliver services throughout most of Australia. NAAFLS is the representative for the Top End of the NT.
We recently attended a FVPLS forum meeting in Sydney where we talked about how all FVPLS can be better advocate for our services around the country.
“It’s important for us to play an active role in the national advocacy work the forum does to raise issues and better inform policies relating to First Nations domestic, family and sexual violence” said NAAFLS CEO David Alexander.
“We wanted to bring our outcomes of the Sydney meeting to the today’s board meeting, so the NAAFLS board members know what is happening on the national agenda.”
Recent appointment of three new directors
Three new board members were accepted to join the Board at this November meeting which is very exciting.
We will have one new member director and two executive directors.
The ‘newbies’ will create a full NAAFLS board of seven directors, and we are looking forward to more spirited debate and new ideas to blend with the knowledge of our experienced directors.
