Happy to be back on bush court circuit

New community legal education team

Not the start our legal teams were hoping for

It’s been a weird start of the year not being able to attend bush courts for almost three months, but we’re really pleased the bush courts are up and running again.  Of course it’s important to keep communities safe from COVID, but the remote community lockdown has meant our clients have largely been without access to courts for domestic and family violence matters at a time when we know domestic violence has risen throughout the NT. It’s been a challenge for the team to have been stuck in Darwin and Katherine knowing how much the services have been needed.  That said, it feels good to be back on the bush court circuit and we’re looking forward to getting out to communities to meet with clients face to face. Last week Client Support officer Peta Plane and Solicitor Yasmin Osborne (pictured) were in Wurrumiyanga seeing clients. ALL Territorians are entitled to access to justice.
