First trip to Gapuwiyak

Gabby in Gapuwiyak

“It was my first time in Gapuwiyak and we set off on foot around community, introducing ourselves to the local service providers, meeting people and visiting clients.

We try to make ourselves as visible as possible during community visits so that anyone needing our assistance has the opportunity to speak with us.

Given the sensitive nature of NAAFLS work, building relationships with individuals and communities in person is an important aspect of providing an accessible and appropriate legal service to our clients.” Gabby Maginness

Remote offices mean better service delivery

Gabby is our solicitor in Nhulunbuy and manager of the NAAFLS office there.

Having staff permanently placed in East Arnhem Land means we are able to better service communities there. Fly in fly out models have limitations particularly when it comes to generating awareness about available services through regular and consistent engagement. Having an office in Nhulunbuy means NAAFLS is better connected with the region which improves service delivery.
