About NAAFLS

North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service is an independent Family Violence Prevention Legal Service funded by The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) to deliver the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) Safety & Wellbeing Program.

The Indigenous Advancement Strategy Safety & Wellbeing Program provides professional Legal Advice, Support & Legal Representation to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault in remote Top End communities.

It does this through the provision of:

  • Legal advice and representation in areas of:

    • Domestic Violence;

    • Care and Protection of Children;

    • Victims of Crime Compensation;
    • Family Law;

    • Wills;

    • Housing;

    • Court Support;

  • lnformation, support and referral services;

  • Community legal education and family violence prevention initiatives; and

  • Law reform and advocacy

NAAFLS service delivery is enhance by positive engagement with community and stakeholder groups to ensure the services offered are accessible and culturally appropriate to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander adults and children.
